What we install
Plumbing installation covers anything new: a kitchen or bath remodel, a basement bathroom, a laundry hookup, a utility sink, a new water line to an outbuilding or an appliance connection. Good installation starts with a plan for supply, drain, vent and access.
We work with homeowners, contractors and designers. We read plans, check what the walls and floors will allow and give a clear price before work starts. Changes midway are discussed before they happen.
Common installation jobs
These are the installation jobs we get asked about most often.
Kitchen and bath fixtures
Sinks, faucets, toilets, tubs and showers, including relocation of drains and supplies.
Basement bathrooms
Below-grade drains may need an ejector pump. Venting and permits matter.
Laundry and appliance hookups
Washer boxes, dishwasher supplies, ice maker lines and drain standpipes.
Outdoor spigots and hose bibbs
Frost-free models help in a Lake County winter.
Water filtration and softeners
Connections and bypasses installed to code.
Gas lines
Lines for ranges, dryers, grills and generators, where a licensed plumber is required.
Planning an installation
| Question | Why it matters | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| Where do the drains go? | Drains need slope and a vent. | Check the layout before we promise a location. |
| Is the supply large enough? | More fixtures need flow. | Check pipe size and pressure. |
| Do you need a permit? | Many jobs do. | Confirm with the village and handle it. |
| Is there a below-grade drain? | A basement bathroom may need a pump. | Explain options early. |
| What are the finishes? | Fixtures must fit the space. | Review specifications before the rough-in. |
Planning a remodel?
Call and describe the project. We will explain what is involved and give a clear price before work starts.
Gas lines and backflow devices
Gas lines for ranges, dryers and outdoor appliances must be sized and tested correctly. A licensed plumber runs the pipe, tests for leaks and, where required, arranges the inspection. If you smell gas, leave the house and call your gas utility and 911 before you call anyone else.
Backflow preventers protect the public water supply from contamination and are required in many irrigation and commercial setups. We install, repair and replace them, and we help you find out what testing applies. See our commercial plumbing page for business needs.
Permits, licensing and inspections
The Village of Vernon Hills has a published permit guide, and the building department at 847-367-3700 answers questions about what a given job needs. Inspections are on weekdays and are requested ahead of time, so we plan around them.
Plumbers in Illinois are licensed through IDPH, which offers a plumbing license verification lookup. We encourage you to check any contractor, including us. We also coordinate with other trades on remodels. If an existing pipe fails during the work, repiping or leak detection may come into the plan.
What installation costs
Installation is priced by the project, fixture and access. We give a clear price before work starts and itemize the fixtures, the labor and any permit costs.
Insurance does not pay for planned installation. Keep records of permits and inspections, because they matter when you sell the home.
Code and permits note
New plumbing usually needs a permit and an inspection. Ask the Village of Vernon Hills building department at 847-367-3700 what applies, and know that the guidelines the village follows are based on the Illinois State Plumbing Code.
Illinois plumbers are licensed through IDPH, which offers a license lookup, so you can check anyone you hire.
